Another month – more announcements, news and changes in the Microsoft business application ecosystem. Among the most important, it is worth mentioning the improvements that have reached Microsoft Teams, and more specifically to Town hall meetings and webinars. We are talking about the ability to specify who can manage the screen, as well as to designate a presenter directly from the list of participants in an ongoing meeting. In the case of Microsoft 365 Copilot, the new feature called "Copilot Memory" looks interesting, which remembers the user's preferences, their work style or recurring topics. And all this to provide even more personalized responses to prompts. Improvements have not spared Outlook either – both the mobile and desktop versions (including the "classic"). In turn, as part of Power BI, we already have the officially publicly available so-called sparklines, which were available as a preview since December 2021 (!). Without unnecessary speculations – let’s have a look at the selected changes and announcements of new features, which were announced by the Redmond Giant last month – in June 2025.

News in Microsoft Teams

The improvements that Microsoft is currently focusing on in the context of Microsoft Teams are intended to make working in the application easier for the user and more secure. Hence, it is no surprise that new features give more control to administrators and users – for example in the field of meetings. One of the new options is the ability to specify who can manage the content of the screen. This allows organizers to specify who can manage the displayed content during the event. Similar to Live Events, selected people will be able to start the event, manage what participants see and end the event. It is worth noting that this feature is only available for "Town hall" meetings.

Another new feature concerns information on how to join a Town hall meeting. The key here is that they are now available and visible from the event dialog which can be shared. Organizers and presenters can join using a link, meeting ID and passcode, as well as dial-in using a specified phone number – whether via mobile phone or Microsoft Teams Rooms device

The next change is the ability to quickly add a presenter from the participant roster. Interestingly, this feature applies to Town hall meetings, but also webinars. It consists in the fact that we can – during an ongoing event – add a presenter from the list of participants by calling him/ her. When he/ she accepts the call, he/ she immediately joins as a presenter, and thus automatically receive permissions to control the presentation or interact with other meeting participants.

In the context of town hall meetings, it’s worth mentioning the new Town hall usage report available to admins in the Teams Admin Center. This allows admins to provide event organizers with feedback on attendee engagement and overall event effectiveness so they can improve future events.

When using Teams Phone in a company, it is worth noting a small feature that can increase productivity. It is the ability to set the answering of incoming calls in a small window. Of course, it is scalable – you can enlarge and reduce it – however, the default compact window is supposed to be less distracting and support performing multiple tasks at the same time.

Enhancements to Microsoft 365 Copilot

Microsoft is not slowing down in terms of its AI assistant – Copilot. In addition to the features intended for users, Redmond Giant has introduced improvements in the area of agent billing, which is de facto Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat. We are talking about the possibility of paying for real use, i.e. in the pay-as-yo-go model, and not for monthly packages of messages. Interestingly, it is possible to define groups and verify which ones use AI agents the most. In other words, we define groups: sales, purchases, finances, marketing. Then, at the end of the month, the admin knows what part of the invoice for utilization is the use of AI agents by a given department. Additionally, the administrator will be able to, for example:

  • set budget thresholds and alerts;
  • monitor consumption in almost real time.

The next improvement may be almost unnoticeable. It concerns Copilot Chat, and we are talking about ContextIQ. As Microsoft itself states – it is an “intelligent assistance layer” that helps users in real time while working with chat. Thanks to ContextIQ:

  • instead of uploading a file to the created prompt, just search for it using the “/” symbol:

  • it is possible to refer to specific folders in OneDrive and SharePoint sites without leaving the chat with Copilot;
  • you receive content suggestions (prompts, people, files) after entering the first few letters in the chat window:

Improvements have also been made to Copilot available in Microsoft Outlook. In the case of the browser version or the new client – but also the Microsoft 365 Copilot app – Copilot will suggest available meeting times based on the availability of other participants, send invitations or create a draft agenda. It may not be anything groundbreaking, but now Copilot “hallucinates” when we ask it to provide, for example, three available meeting times for selected people, so introducing this feature is definitely a good direction.

Although Microsoft wants users to “switch” to the new version of the Outlook client, it also realizes how much people like the “classic” version of this program. Therefore, it does not want its users to be unable to use Copilot. So, Microsoft decided to introduce the ability to summarize attachments in PDF, Word and PowerPoint files to the “classic” email client. This feature is rolling out in July 2025.

It is also worth mentioning that in the case of Outlook on mobile devices (both Android and iOS), Copilot will be enhanced with the Prepare with Copilot feature. Based on available materials related to the meeting, i.e. documents, tasks, and others, Copilot will prepare a summary that allows the user to quickly prepare for the upcoming meeting on-the-go.

In the context of chat with Copilot, attention is drawn to the feature that is scheduled to roll out in July 2025 – Copilot Memory. It remembers the user's characteristic features – preferences, work style, repetitive topics. It captures details from ongoing conversations, e.g. "I prefer Excel to write down tasks over Word" and then applies them to future responses. Similarly, if the feature "sees" that we often want responses to have a specific tone, length or other preferences, Copilot Memory will remember them and apply them in the future, so that we receive even more personalized responses to entered prompts. Of course, we have full control over this option – we can view and edit memories, and this option can also be completely disabled. Rollout – July 2025.

The June summary of changes and new features in Copilot also included something for users of devices with the bitten apple logo. Namely, they will be able to use the Microsoft 365 Copilot app on their computers. This option hit English markets last month and will soon be available in other markets as well.

What’s new in Power BI?

In Power BI, attention is drawn to the improvements in the visual calculations. However, it is worth remembering that they are still in preview. Nevertheless, their faster creation using parameters pickers that are available when loading a template looks very interesting:

In addition, Power BI users finally got the sparklines. They have been waiting for it since December 2021, when it was available as part of the preview version. Sparklines are small charts shown within cells of a table or matrix that make it easy to see and compare trends. If you want to familiarize yourself with this feature, we encourage you to test it out – after all, "practice makes perfect".
