It seems that we have all become accustomed to generative artificial intelligence. After initial concerns, we are beginning to see the positive aspects of using AI in our daily work. Is the fear that artificial intelligence will take away jobs a thing of the past? Let's take a look at what the recent "Work Trend Index" study, prepared by Microsoft in collaboration with LinkedIn, has to say on this topic.
How was the "Work Trend Index" report created?
This is the fourth edition of the report. However, for the first time, LinkedIn was invited to collaborate. The goal is to create a comprehensive picture of how artificial intelligence has transformed the job market and work itself. The study involved 31,000 people from 31 countries. The report's creators aimed to identify trends in work and recruitment from LinkedIn and analyzed the impact of working with Microsoft 365 on productivity. They also conducted research with clients from the Fortune 500 list. What conclusions related to artificial intelligence can be drawn from the report?
Do we want to work with AI?
The answer to this question is simple – not only do people want to, but they are already doing it! Exactly 75% of the survey participants declared that they use AI support during work. They emphasize that it saves time, which they can devote to other tasks. Using AI solutions also increases employees' creativity. At the same time, among the surveyed leaders, 79% agree that implementing AI is crucial for maintaining competitiveness. However, they are still hesitant to implement AI on a large scale. Why? 60% are concerned that their company lacks a vision and plan for its implementation. Slightly fewer, 59%, worry about how to measure the productivity gains resulting from using AI. Meanwhile, employees do not want to wait – 78% are introducing their own AI solutions into their work!
How does artificial intelligence impact the job market?
The fears that AI would take away people's jobs have proven unfounded. However, this does not mean it has no impact on the current job market. While 46% of employees worldwide are considering changing their place of employment, a lack of knowledge of AI solutions could be an obstacle. Among leaders, there is a concern about having a sufficient number of candidates for open positions – expressed by 55% of respondents. Two-thirds of leaders cannot imagine hiring someone who does not have experience with AI. Meanwhile, only 39% of employees have been trained in AI within their companies. The rest are forced to train themselves.
What does the future hold?
The study clearly shows a division among AI users. There are skeptics who use it rarely, reluctantly, and without conviction. On the other hand, there are advanced users. Thanks to AI solutions, their normal workday has changed dramatically. Every day, they can save over 30 minutes that they previously spent on repetitive, uncreative tasks. More than 90% of advanced users claim that thanks to AI, managing work pressure is easier, and the work itself is more enjoyable.
AI solutions in Microsoft tools
Microsoft continues to invest in the development of artificial intelligence in its solutions. The AI assistant named Copilot is available in major products such as the Microsoft 365 office suite, Power Platform solutions, CRM Dynamics 365 Sales, and the ERP system Dynamics 365 Business Central. Copilot already significantly improves work with individual applications and continues to be developed – with new capabilities appearing practically every month.
